Entropion

Entropion is a condition in which the eyelid—most commonly the lower eyelid—turns inward toward the eye. This causes the eyelashes and surrounding skin to rub against the surface of the eye, which may lead to irritation, excessive tearing, redness, discomfort, or the sensation that something is in the eye.

Without treatment, persistent rubbing may damage the cornea and affect the health of the eye. Surgical correction typically involves tightening and repositioning the eyelid to restore its natural alignment and prevent the eyelashes from contacting the eye. Dr. Rubin will determine the most appropriate surgical approach based on the cause and severity of the condition.

Ectropion

Ectropion is a condition in which the eyelid—most commonly the lower eyelid—turns outward and no longer rests properly against the surface of the eye. The exposed inner lining of the eyelid may appear red and irritated, and patients may experience excessive tearing, dryness, discomfort, or recurrent eye irritation.

Ectropion frequently develops when age-related changes cause the lower eyelid to become loose. It may also result from sun-damaged or scarred skin that tightens and pulls the eyelid downward, a condition known as cicatricial ectropion. Treatment is tailored to the underlying cause and may involve surgically tightening, repositioning, or reconstructing the eyelid to restore its natural position and protect the eye.

I had lived with a lump in my eyelid for the last two years. Dr. Rubin performed a 30 minutes procedure, removed all the plugs and the next day, my eyelid looks normal again! I have had a droopy eyelid for years and finally decided to get it fixed so I could see better and have it look better. He also did the other eye that appeared to be heading in that same direction. Dr. Rubin was referred to me by three different people, my regular eye doctor in Hobe Sound, a friend who went to him for a procedure and also from a plastic surgeon in West Palm Beach… all three highly recommended him. I saw Dr. Rubin to have a chalazia removed from my eye lid. He also suggested that l think about having dry eye treatments, but that insurance does not cover the treatments.  I have been undergoing the treatments since December, (they are almost finished. ) My dry eye syndrome feels like it is gone . I no longer wake up with burry  eyesight reaching for eye drops.  The treatments have made a huge difference! Dr. Rubin and his staff are fantastic. Office visits are a pleasure, the office environment is friendly, knowledgeable and supportive .
