What Is Lower Blepharoplasty?

Lower blepharoplasty, also known as lower eyelid surgery, addresses excess or displaced fat, loose skin, and changes in the transition between the lower eyelid and cheek.

Because every patient’s anatomy is different, there is no single technique appropriate for everyone. Depending on your needs, Dr. Rubin may perform surgery through an incision hidden inside the lower eyelid, known as a transconjunctival approach, or through a fine incision placed just beneath the eyelashes, known as a subciliary approach.

Rather than simply removing under-eye fat, it may be carefully repositioned to soften hollowing and create a smoother transition between the lower eyelid and cheek. When additional support is needed, Dr. Rubin may also recommend tightening the outer corner of the eyelid with a canthoplasty or combining the procedure with an upper-cheek lift.

Lower blepharoplasty is designed to improve under-eye bags, puffiness, loose skin, and hollowing that may develop with age or genetics. Dr. Rubin was referred to me by three different people, my regular eye doctor in Hobe Sound, a friend who went to him for a procedure and also from a plastic surgeon in West Palm Beach… all three highly recommended him. I saw Dr. Rubin to have a chalazia removed from my eye lid. He also suggested that l think about having dry eye treatments, but that insurance does not cover the treatments.  I have been undergoing the treatments since December, (they are almost finished. ) My dry eye syndrome feels like it is gone . I no longer wake up with burry  eyesight reaching for eye drops.
