Patients desiring cosmetic enhancement in the eye area often express a desire to appear younger or less tired. Evaluation includes a thorough assessment of the eye zone, extending from the forehead through the upper cheek.
Call our Palm Beach Gardens office to schedule your evaluation with Dr. Rubin.
Upper blepharoplasty, commonly known as upper eyelid surgery or an eyelid lift, is a procedure that removes or repositions excess skin and fat from the upper eyelids. It can improve heaviness, sagging, and puffiness caused by aging, genetics, or other factors. In some patients, excess eyelid skin may also interfere with the upper field of vision.
Using a precise and individualized approach, Dr. Rubin carefully enhances the natural contour of the upper eyelids while preserving their essential function. The goal is a smoother, more open and refreshed appearance that looks natural—not overdone—and remains unmistakably you.
The distinctive appearance of the upper lid in an Asian patient, frequently with the absence of the “double eyelid” results from a fundamental anatomic difference between the western / Caucasian eyelid and the Asian eyelid. Many of our Asian patients seek to enhance a pre-existing natural fold, improve symmetry between the upper lids, or create new, natural-appearing double eyelid. Your evaluation will include assessment of your unique anatomy, pre-existing lid crease or folds and position of the brow. There is no single correct solution, as every case customized to address your personal preferences regarding a natural, attractive appearance of the eyes.
Asian Blepharoplasty: Pre-op: Note the asymmetry between the upper eyelid creases, with a single fold in the right upper lid and double fold in the left upper lid. Post-op: Following surgery to the right upper lid, a lid crease was formed creating more symmetric natural-appearing eyes.
Upper blepharoplasty can provide both aesthetic and functional benefits. By removing excess skin and carefully refining the upper-eyelid contour, the procedure can help the eyes appear brighter, more open, and naturally refreshed. For patients whose eyelid skin interferes with their upper field of vision, surgery may also improve visual function and make everyday activities more comfortable.
Potential benefits include:
Improving balance and symmetry between the eyes
Upper blepharoplasty may be appropriate for healthy adults who are bothered by excess upper-eyelid skin, heaviness, puffiness, or a tired appearance. It may also benefit patients whose eyelid skin limits their field of vision.
During your consultation, Dr. Rubin will evaluate your eyelids, eyebrows, eye health, and facial anatomy to determine whether upper blepharoplasty—or another procedure such as ptosis or brow surgery—will best address your concerns.
Good candidates generally:
Every patient’s anatomy and goals are different. Dr. Rubin will create a personalized surgical plan designed to achieve a balanced, natural-looking result while protecting healthy eyelid function.
The finest results are noticed not because you look different, but because you look naturally refreshed.

I had my tear ducts plugged 20 years ago and over time, one became fully blocked and infected. I had lived with a lump in my eyelid for the last two years. Dr. Rubin performed a 30 minutes procedure, removed all the plugs and the next day, my eyelid looks normal again! While some irritation was expected, it’s so minor. I’m so thrilled to have finally done this.![]()

Dr. Rubin was referred to me by three different people, my regular eye doctor in Hobe Sound, a friend who went to him for a procedure and also from a plastic surgeon in West Palm Beach… all three highly recommended him. I saw Dr. Rubin to have a chalazia removed from my eye lid. He also suggested that l think about having dry eye treatments, but that insurance does not cover the treatments. I have been undergoing the treatments since December, (they are almost finished. ) My dry eye syndrome feels like it is gone . I no longer wake up with burry eyesight reaching for eye drops. The treatments have made a huge difference! Dr. Rubin and his staff are fantastic. Office visits are a pleasure, the office environment is friendly, knowledgeable and supportive . I highly recommend this practice.
